How FindMyJeweler.com Screens Jewelers
My staff and I did the testing for FindMyJeweler.com. For each area, I called every jeweler in the yellow pages and pretended to be a customer to test sales skills and diamond knowledge. If even one question receives the wrong answer, we simply hang up and go to the next jeweler in the area. (No need to waste any more of my time or yours on that store.) For each test, the expert asks the salesperson for help in deciding on the best quality/price/size of diamond for an engagement ring. He soon decides on a 1.00 carat, G color, VS2 clarity, ideal cut, round brilliant shape diamond. If the first price offered is not an excellent price, we hang up and move on. If they do not have GIA certified diamonds in stock, we hang up and move on. You get the idea. This process eliminates 98% of the stores we call in just 1-3 minutes on the phone.
Then we continue to check for each of the above factors over the phone, as well as looking in advertising materials, and in the JBT (Jeweler's Board of Trade), etc. until we find a jeweler in the area that rates excellent for all the factors listed above.
Some areas will not have a jeweler that qualifies, and some areas have not been researched yet. If the system does not recommend a local jeweler for you, just email me and I will help you find the nearest jeweler that does qualify. It will be worth it. You could easily save several thousand dollars on a 1-carat diamond in many cases.
