Money
The clear and simple purpose
of this site is to help people and make money while I'm at it, but I don't sleep well unless everyone benefits. I don't really need a lot of money from this site, I have other income, but I want it to pay for itself, and I want to enjoy myself in the process.
So I tried various approaches for 2 years, until I discovered what we created here -- a unique and powerful win-win-win situation.
As a result of this unique approach, we can afford to make this information
available to help you avoid the scams that can ruin an otherwise perfect marriage proposal.
First we tried for several
months to sell our information to the consumers it was helping, for a very moderate fee. However,
we soon discovered that consumers did not like or expect to be paying for information on the web, even though I was saving people hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars.
Therefore, we switched to giving free access
to the in-depth reports on the few jewelers that passed our elaborate secret shopper tests and background checks
. And to keep the site free for consumers to use,
we realized that we had started off the right way in the first place, which was to test the stores first to find the few great ones.
The new idea was that we then asked the stores that passed if they would send a small referral fee. And the fees are small enough that they do not interfere with pricing. In fact, jewelers seem to love paying us, because they win in the long run too. It is cheaper to get customers from us than it is to pay for their regular marketing methods. And that is how we pay the bills here.
How Everyone Wins:
- the customer wins and gets a jeweler that passed our expert tests
- the jeweler wins and gets a new customer if they do a good job
- I win and get a small fee that will eventually amount to something.
And we keep the information useful to consumers.
For instance, many companies and websites have
offered referral fees or advertising fees to put them on the list,
but they are not listed here if they did
not pass when we tested them as a secret shopper.
If they don't pass the tests, they don't get on the list, period.
